PFLAG Springfield and Ozarks Counseling Center partner to provide support to LGBTQ+ individuals and their parents

PFLAG Springfield is proud to announce a new partnership with Ozarks Counseling Center to expand access to the PFLAG Support Fund. This program provides financial assistance for individual, family, or group counseling sessions for LGBTQ+ youth and adults, their parents, caregivers, immediate family, or other household members.

The purpose of the fund is not only to provide access to services for families that may not be able to afford it otherwise, but also to incentivize parents to attempt counseling who may otherwise refuse. Early intervention significantly reduces the negative impacts by fostering better relationships between LGBTQ+ people and their parents.

In addition to making this fund available for new clients seeking support at Ozarks Counseling Center, PFLAG Springfield will be providing support to existing clients who qualify through the holiday season. This will ensure that clients experiencing financial hardship in December are able to access critical mental health services during what can be a difficult time for many LGBTQ+ individuals and families.

Ozarks Counseling Center has upcoming availability for new clients appointments on weekday mornings and afternoons, with longer wait times for evening or weekend appointments. New clients can request more information on the PFLAG Support Fund when they are contacted for new client intake. Existing clients of Ozarks Counseling Center who are eligible can contact Jackie King at for more information.

The PFLAG Support Fund was made possible by the Musgrave Foundation and the Community Foundation of the Ozarks.
